The Koiari Park Seventh Day Adventist English Church is the main church building inside the Pacific Adventist University Koiari Park Campus, in Port Moresby. It is the right in the center of the campus beside the campus lakes. It serves as a church, graduation venue, and host venue for all kinds of church events.
Sabbath Services at PAU.
During Sabbath (Saturdays), the church is usually filled to capacity with students, faculty staff and families, PAU Campus residents and visitors. Most of the visitors are Port Moresby City residents. Most of the visitors are regular Sabbath goers of the church.
Although, the Sabbath Service starts at 9:00 AM, it’s good to go early on Sabbath mornings as the church fills up quickly.
After the PAU Campus has beautiful outdoor spots under the trees or besides the two main lakes for people to have their Sabbath lunches and spend quality time with their families and friends.
PAU Graduations
Koiari Park English Church is also the place where Graduations are hold at the end of each year. Annual Graduation, in the previous years, from 2023 and back it happens in Mid December. This year (2024) and onwards, it will be mid-November. It’s a whole weekend program which starts on Friday and followed by Graduation Day on Sunday.
Currently, there was a ground breaking ceremony held to by PAU to construct a multi-purpose auditorium with construction to begin soon. While waiting for that construction to complete, Graduations will continue to be held in this church.
This is the place where Graduations are held and students are commissioned to serve the Community and God in their respective fields of study. It has a special place in the memories of past PAU students who have passed through it.
Other Important Events
The church also serves as the venue for important church events. Notable ones include the Central Papua Mission Conference Session, PNG Union Mission events and church evangelists meetings for staff and students at PAU.
Recent one this year (2024) was the visit of the SDA Mission World President to the campus during the PNG4 Christ Evangelist Meetings which the President was part of a series of meetings held around the country.
Other civil events like Wedding and funeral services are held here.
For Christian’s who would like to join the SDA Community to worship on Sabbaths (Saturdays), it can be a worth a blessing worship in this church.
